Authentic southern HISTORY and southern hospitality

Our history dates back to 1966, when Jack Howard Sr. and his wife Gloria opened the doors to the first Mamie’s Kitchen Restaurant in Atlanta on Memorial Drive.

A native of Forsyth County, Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Army in World War II until he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for valor.

After the war, an entrepreneurial spirit led him into the restaurant business, but for Jack Sr., following the recommendations of experienced restaurateurs and the accepted rule of the business to “buy cheap and sell high” was not a formula for success. Instead, he focused on serving the highest quality food and absolute best value for everyone from the blue-collar worker to white-collar businessmen.

Together, Jack and his wife Gloria invested and sacrificed to establish the restaurant as a community favorite for breakfast and lunch. Today, Mamie’s Kitchen Biscuits is operated by Jack’s youngest son Phil and his wife Tammy, along with a dedicated staff that shares the same values, several of whom have been with the team for over 20 years.

We invite you to come experience our delicious food and family spirit at any of our restaurants.
